Introduction
Soft Computing and Data Mining are computational research areas in Computer Science that become popular in the early 1990's until today. While the study of earlier computational research areas could model relatively simple systems, the current study of soft computing and data mining emphasize on dealing with more complex systems which involve mathematical and analytical methods. Soft computing and data mining techniques often apply a consortium of computational techniques in computer science (like fuzzy systems, neural networks, etc) that deal with imprecision, uncertainty, partial truth, and approximation to achieve tractability, robustness and low solution cost. Soft computing tools, individually or in integrated manner, are turning out to be strong candidates for performing tasks in the area of data mining applications, decision support systems, supply chain management, medicine, business, financial systems, automotive systems, manufacturing, image processing, data compression, and many others. Additionally, data mining techniques may also reveal useful patterns or relationships in data sets which can improve accuracy of prediction and classification tasks.
Aim
The Third International Conference on Soft Computing and Data Mining (SCDM-2018) is dedicated to address the challenges in the areas of soft computing and data mining, thereby presenting a consolidated view to the interested researchers in the aforesaid fields. The conference looks for significant contributions to soft computing and data mining in theoretical and practical aspects.
The goal of this conference is to bring together researchers and practitioners from academia and industry to highlight the importance of soft computing and data mining concepts as well as establishing new collaborations in these areas.
Organizers
Soft Computing and Data Mining Center (SMC), Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology, Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia.
